This deliverable lists information about competences that are useful for the virtual museum domain and lists applications, institutions and SMEs having those competences or having developed Virtual Museum projects, applications or tools.
The goal of this list is to provide context, in-depth information and new developments concerning a range of competences, linked to virtual museums. A list of useful other resources are also added in the last chapter.
WP2 aims at building the strategic forum for the entire project, identifying needs, problems and requirements of VM domain, through surveys and debates. It will also define basic criteria for further analysis that will be carried out during the project. It will be leaded by Foundation of the Hellenic World (FHW) for its experience in the entire VM domain. Specific objectives are:
WP7 aims at creating a common ground for testing, assessment and evaluation of what is produced by the project partners in WP2, WP3 and WP5 as well as other results produced by the network of associated museums, addressing how VM technology can be embedded into curatorial and museum practices.
Virtual Museums (VM) are a new model of communication that aims at creating a personalized, immersive, interactive way to enhance our understanding of the world around us. The term “VM” is a short-cut that comprehends various types of digital creations. Unfortunately, although its idea is not new, development and implementation researches have not, already, brought Europe to be the leader in this field, as expected. Thi sector has not reached a sufficient level of maturity, such as Cinema or Game sectors, as to be as much widespread as it should be.
